1. Governor Mike Dunleavy released his proposal Thursday for the next fiscal year's budget. It starts with a $1.5 billion deficit. That's because he proposes to give Alaskans a Permanent Fund Dividend of $3,900 each.
2. The head of the agency that manages the Alaska Permanent Fund is getting a raise. The Permanent Fund Corporation’s Board of Trustees approved a 10% pay increase for CEO Deven Mitchell, bringing his total annual salary to more than $420,000.
3. More than a thousand Ukrainians have come to Alaska since Russia invaded their country in early 2022. Almost all have settled in, but they worry that President-elect Trump will deport them after he’s inaugurated next month.
